Perceived Reality (La realidad percibida)

is an ongoing series of works developed from the study of representation, the craftsmanship of painting (materials and techniques) and how it relates to visual perception.
Images of natural shapes are dissected into visual elements then rearranged to create new results that are also affected by digital ways of processing images. A tension between an idea of nature and our 21st century familiarity to screens and two-dimensional images. The challenge to replicate those digital images onto canvas requires study of the craftmanship of painting, materials and techniques.
Painting in this context can be considered a reflection about perception and how we connect to the world, our distance to reality and the nature of our experience.
